Tutorial: Sweet Little Note

So easy and quick, simple but rather sweet. A little notepad page with a doodle note for someone special. You don't need much, just a few supplies, a "pinch" of time and a bit of happy mind.

Supplies you will need:
  • sewing machine
  • piece of white cotton
  • iron-on interfacing (I like to use cotton interfacing)
  • cotton threads - in pink (or red) and light blue colours
  • ruler
  • water erasable pen

Step 1: Cut a piece of cotton depending on how big or small you want your note to be. Iron the interfacing on to the back side of white cotton. Using a water erasable pen and a ruler, mark a few horizontal lines 3/8" apart and one vertical line on the left side. Just like a notepad page.

Step 2: Set your machine to the shortest stitch. Using the light blue thread, stitch along the horizontal marked lines first. Then replace the thread with the pink or red one and stitch the vertical line.

Note: Make sure that you stitch close enough to the right and left edges of your fabric piece.

Step 3: If using a water erasable pen, spray your fabric with water and let it dry. Then press your piece quite well.

Now you are ready to leave that lovely note for someone special. You can write or draw whatever you like. Just set your mind to a "happy" mode and doodle away for fun.

Once you are happy with your design, embroider it. You can do free motion machine or hand embroidery to finish your note. You can frame your note, or make a quilting block by stitching more background fabric around it, or maybe turn it in to a special greeting card. That's what I made with my first ever little note. The possibilities are endless really. Come back soon to see what I am making now with my little sweet notes. Have fun! Larisa xox
